Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche has requested His Eminence Terton Namkha Drimed to bestow the Wrathful Gesar Empowerment in Boulder. This empowerment is part of a larger cycle of mind termas revealed to Namkha Drimed Rinpoche by Akar Werma, a deity that embodies the union of Gesar and Padmakara.

The practice of Wrathful Gesar (Gesar Trakpo) is intended to repel obstacles, accidents, and illnesses in order to practice the dharma. Gesar Trakpo is analogous to Dorje Trollo, the wrathful manifestation of compassion that Padmasambhava assumed when he first entered the untamed land of Tibet.

The practices of Gesar are a means to quickly attain the state of a warrior’s mind which unhesitatingly benefits others. Gesar’s appearance in Tibetan history during a time of great negativity and is a parallel to the emergence of Shambhala in these times of speed, aggression, and materialism.
