Dear Friends of The Ripa Sangha,

Every year the Ripa International Center in Switzerland celebrates Saga Dawa Duchen according to the Tibetan calendar to commemorate the goodness and qualities of the Buddha’s sublime body, speech and mind. With full faith in the Buddha and His teachings, we celebrate this festival together and dedicate the merit to all sentient beings.

We cordially invite you to celebrate with us! This year we are celebrating Saga Dawa Duchen at the Ripa International Center this Sunday, June 12th led by Lama Tenzin Phuntsok. Saga Dawa is one of the most important Buddhist holidays and it will be very special this year to get together once again, without masks and “social distancing” in a festive and solemn way. Those who cannot attend may participate online! We are all waiting for each of you!

Saga Dawa Duchen
On Saga Dawa Duchen, the birth, enlightenment and parinirvana of Shakyamuni Buddha are commemorated.
Saga Dawa is the month of merit, also called Bumgyur Dawa, which means “merit multiplied by a hundred thousand”. During this period, Buddhists around the world make special efforts to practice the Dharma and exercise generosity and compassion in order to accumulate greater merit and dissolve negative karma.
Saga Dawa Duchen, the full moon day, falls this year on Tuesday, June 14th, also the day of our monthly Gesar practice and will be broadcast via Zoom at 7.30 pm, as always.

At The RIC, in order to allow as many people as possible to participate onsite, we will celebrate Saga Dawa on Sunday, June 12th.

Our beloved teachers, His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rabjam Rinpoche and Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche in Bodhgaya, the place of Buddha Shakyamuni’s enlightenment, one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage destinations (Winter of 2021/22).
